We chose to return to India
and like most NRIs, finding a school with a difference was our top priority. Our search for a non-academic school with
a holistic approach and focus on creativity ended at VNS.

“Vidya Niketan School is a preparation for life… an avenue to give each child a strong foundation to build on.”

As the planet grows smaller and more closely connected VNS recognizes the need to encompass global interest and include internationalism as an important component of the ethos and curriculum of the school. The management, staff and parents of VNS are committed to cultivating global awareness by spreading the message of taking pride not only by being a citizen of their respective countries but by being a citizen of the world.  In the interest of our shared future on this planet we need to recognize all other nations as equal in spire of their differences.  We would like each and every student in the school to believe in the words of Ramsey Macdonald who rightly said “Our true nationality is mankind.

Way to go..... VNS!
Vidya Niketan has now become a part of a cluster of 6 schools, organized by British Council as part of their UKIERI Programme. These schools will be working on a program in partnership with a cluster of UK schools. The five other schools in the cluster are Vidya Shilp Academy, Mallya Aditi International School, Sri Vani Public School, R.V Public School and Sudharshan Vidya Mandir.

Aims

"Reach high for stars lie hidden in our soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes a goal"

Vidya Niketan is a school with global reach, yet roots clearly and proudly embedded in  Indian culture and ethos.  Moving with the times but retaining its core values with which it started of Character Building and Man Making – letting every child discover his/her potential and developing a well rounded personality. The special flavour is inculcating students to sensitivity of every area of human endeavour. Our commitment to our motto ‘Discipline and Excellence’ is re-affirmed every year by students who pass out. They are confident, independent individuals who can hold their own in every field they walk into.

Vidya Niketan School is dedicated to the holistic development of every child through individual attention. Children are encouraged to discover new avenues and new approaches to every subject.

Vidya Niketan School aims to educate students to become active global citizens, committed to working towards perpetuating a peaceful co-existence of the multifaceted global community.

The School

Vidya Niketan School , a coeducational, secular, wholly Indian school run by the Kasturba Education Trust and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination  (ICSE), New Delhi . In its 25 years VNS has shined in academics, cultural and sport activities at the inter school, state and national and international levels. The child friendly infrastructure is the ideal environment for learning.

  •  A lush campus of 6 and half acres, easily accessible from the city.

  • Separate buildings for the Junior and Senior sections with independent facilities for each.

  • A meeting ground for students from a wide cross section of society.

The Child

At VNS every child is treated as a unique individual. Our goal is to nurture individual potential to the maximum. Each child is encouraged to perform to the best of his/her ability.  We are committed to provide a well rounded education aimed at overall development of a child’s personality. Greater emphasis is laid upon the style of learning and appreciation of what is learnt, rather than on the curriculum aimed at an exam.

  • Our teacher student ratio is 1 : 15 with class  strength of  36 students per section.

  • At VNS teachers and parents work in close co-operation to cultivate a happy and healthy environment for teaching and learning.

  • Children are encouraged to work freely and independently and develop sensitivities attuned to different facets of life.

  • There is a stress on ‘participation of all’ and in ‘all activities’.

  • Counselling by experts who work closely with parents, children and the management.

  • Thanks to the favourable teacher-student ratio. VNS is able to pinpoint and support children with special needs.

  • The Remedial Centre is managed by qualified professionals who study the nature of problems and offer effective solutions or suitable references to specialists in the relevant fields.

  • NIOS – National Institute of  Open School Curriculum allows children of  Std’s VIII, IX and X to stagger their learning according to their own requirements.

Shaping Tomorrow’s World

At Vidya Niketan School, we empower children to build a better tomorrow for themselves and for others around the world. Our aim is to help create tomorrow’s world leaders – environmentally conscious global citizens with an international outlook.

In order to prepare students for an international environment, we make sure that children understand other cultures and countries, and emphasise good personal habits.

Seminars and workshops on topics like public speaking, personality development, sex-education, adolescence, reading enrichment and life skill programmes are conducted by professionals in diverse fields. At the high school level, Steven Covey’s ‘Seven Habits of Highly Successful People’ is used as a tool to inculcate life skills.

We believe in using contemporary, innovative teaching techniques to transcend traditional textbook learning. Some of these methods include:
Goal-setting and benchmarking by the students Self-learning through the library and the Internet
Self-evaluation of answer scripts Time management skills
Group study and teamwork Language learning
Graphical analysis of progress Interaction with other schools
